The island of Skiathos

The island of Skiathos
Skiathos continues to be kept a secret by people that found out it several years ago and keep going back year in year out. The area has been through several adjustments during the last 20 years but it continues to have that "je ne sais quoi?". I selected a hotel by reading through internet testimonials - Magic Hotel in Agia Paraskevi, located in a little bay centre of the island, perfect location and fantastic sea views.

Being close to the beach, I woke nearly all mornings to the sound of the waves from the sea. Hotel staff couldn't do enough for their guests, always conscious of your needs and friendly. The food was remarkable, both at breakfast and dinner. Some evenings, on a brief bus trip into Skiathos town, we took an enchanting stroll across the port, stopped off for a drink or two at one of many bars on the steps leading up to the church and also for supper in a fish restaurant.

We frequented a few beaches, they all appeared similar with their golden sand, crystal clear water, not very crowded, but our most liked was Paraskevi beach as it was a short distance from our hotel. Early evening we would take a seat on our balcony enjoying a drop of wine whilst taking in the amazing views. In the area, there was lots of eateries and drink, a number of supermarkets plus some even sold international newspapers and magazines.
